Sponsorship Invitation & Summary

The Florida Renewable Energy Association, together with the Orlando Science Center and the Orlando Utility Commission, is excited to announce plans for our third annual Florida Renewable Energy Expo. We invite you to join us as we build on the success of Orlando’s first sustainable energy fair to make it the premiere regional event that brings together local and state agencies, nonprofit industry groups, and dedicated commercial partners in this important civic cause.

This year we seek to strengthen our message with a collaboration by the staff of the Orlando Science Center and OUC in designing an event program that will stress the importance of reducing individual carbon footprints while providing easy access to information, products and services that will empower each of us to do just that. It will be a hands-on educational event full of fun and entertainment that brings the general public together with the entrepreneurs and educators working on the dual challenges of energy independence and global climate change.

Visitors will:

  • Learn how to become more energy efficient at home
  • Discover new green building designs and technologies
  • Learn the science and economics of solar hot water and photovoltaics
  • Learn about the many new government incentives for going green
  • Examine and test ride this year's newest and most fuel-efficient cars
  • Discover how Florida is fast becoming a leader in home-grown biofuels
  • See demonstrations on the exciting potential of new plug-in hybrids and all=electric vehicles
  • Gain an understanding of how Floridians can move forward on a path toward 100% clean, renewable energy

The program will provide everything the average Florida family needs to start reducing their carbon footprint and creating energy independence. And in the midst of it all, there will be plenty of fun and excitement for everyone – live jazz concerts powered by solar energy and Florida biofuels, the wonders and mysteries of our planet Earth projected on the giant screen of the Dr. Phillips Cinedome, full access to the myriad exhibits of the Orlando Science Center, student competitions with hydrogen cars and solar cookers, seminars and workshops for Mom and Dad, and fun learning activities for the kids. It will be two full days of exploring the exciting new world of renewable energy and green living.

Entertainment
Outdoors on the Science Center’s spacious “Solar Terrace”, two of Orlando’s most popular smooth jazz artists will be performing under the power of Florida’s renewable energy. Solar panels and biodiesel fuel will provide the energy for the saxophone of Erly Thornton on Saturday, October 24th and the electric guitar of Robert Harris on Sunday, October 25th.

The Giant Screen of the Dr. Phillips CineDome brings the marvels of Mother Nature close up and in amazing sound and color for special showings of the following films: Wild Ocean, Coral Reef Adventure, and Grand Canyon Adventure.

Activities for Kids
Students from our local Central Florida schools will compete in a variety of activities related to energy efficiency and renewable energy. The contests will be held each day out on the Solar Terrace.

But much more fun and learning await our younger attendees in the Orlando Science Center’s many kid-friendly exhibits such as H2Now: the Great Hydrogen X-Change, Dino Digs, Dr. Dare’s Lab, All Aboard, KidsTown, The Adventures of MR. POTATO HEAD, and more…
